This has been a weird year. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that. It’s been weird for everyone. Take the Good Life Halfsy, for instance. With smaller event capacity and safety concerns, some of you will be running the race virtually. No cheering fans and cowbells, unless you get your family in on that from home.

It’s been strange here at the Mission, too. We had a huge drop in volunteers for a while, and while those numbers are picking up, we’re seeing more and more groups and individuals asking what they can do virtually to help the homeless. They recognize that the need doesn’t stop – in fact, it is greater – just because the virus makes it more difficult to help face-to-face.

So, now you too are probably wondering how you can help virtually. I’m so glad you asked! 😉

Have you ever thought of an online fundraiser for People’s City Mission? It’s pretty easy to do, and you can piggyback off of your race day efforts. Just go to PCM’s facebook page and click on “fundraisers” to create your own.

If every single runner this year had a fundraising goal of $10 per kilometer, the results of those efforts would provide well over 185,000 meals for the homeless right here in Lincoln. That could get us through this fall, winter, AND spring, folks. Just by running this race, you can help feed people in need.

Lincoln is an amazing community, and our running community is incredibly special. We are so honored to be one of the Charities of Choice for the Good Life Halfsy for the last seven years. If you choose to do a Facebook fundraiser for us this year, we would be so grateful!
